The original American Pie was formed in the 70's by Ronnie. He gathered the best musicians from the music scene in the north of Ireland and the end result was a group many said were ahead of their time. Though the personnel have changed few times over the years, American Pie has forged ahead in the belief that being that wee bit different helps them stand out from the crowd.
Nowadays the band is a fusion of modern technology and good old-fashioned musicianship.
A solid big-band sound typified by the brass section , which is as rare as hen's teeth in today's groups.
Interestingly, American Pie are not named after the eponymous movies but after a hit by Don Mcclean, an American folk singer.(The song "American Pie" was covered by Madonna in the early 2000's).
